Chang and Wei | Dog Tales Sanctuary Engagement

Chang and Wei picked the location for their engagement shoot and what a unique and beautiful spot they chose! They wanted to shoot at the BEAUTIFUL Dog Tales Rescue and Sanctuary which is featured in the TV show Dog Tales Rescue. They rescue all kind of animals like dogs, horses, cows and even pigs. And of course they wanted to bring their own sweet little pooch along for the ride. Beyond the beautiful location, the weather could not have cooperated more with us. The sun was shining on the rolling hills. I mean what??!! So stunning.

I love it when a couple picks a fun location that makes sense for them. It really encapsulated their love for their own pup. Engagement sessions should be fun! I mean its a celebration of you and your partner and your love story. Just have fun and don’t take yourself too seriously. Your love will shine through every shot.

Ken and Katrina | Holland Marsh Winery Wedding

I’m busy catching up on blogging some beautiful 2017 weddings and boy is this one worth the wait. You can see their amazing cottage engagement session here.

Ken and Katrina were married at the beautiful Holland Marsh Wineries in Newmarket. Together they planned a lovely wedding that celebrated their relationship with each other and their friends and family. They are both very close with their families and it was evident throughout the whole day. Katrina wanted to make sure to have special moments with her grandmother and her father and they were some of the most emotional moments of the day.

The rain came and went that day and what came of it were bursts of light and some amazing storm clouds. They rode through it all and took full advantage of the beauty of changing weather. The big, beautiful sunflowers that were sprinkled throughout brought all the sunshine to the festivities. One of my most favourite moments was during their first look. Ken wasn’t sure that he would cry at all and Katrina had been teasing him about it leading up to the wedding. But when he first laid his eyes on her he was instantly overwhelmed and she couldn’t help but laugh at his sweet reaction. It was a true testament to their loving and playful relationship. This playfulness extended all the way through to their dances. Katrina with her dad and Ken with his mom bust out some serious dance moves that would make anyone envious.

This wedding was a joy to be a part of and I’m so excited to share it here today. Now as we enter 2019, these two are expecting twins! I know that their fun personalities will make them the most wonderful parents in the world.

An Introverts Guide to a Comfortable Wedding Day

Oh my fellow introverts. I feel you and I recognize you. I know you are so excited about your wedding but those feelings of exhaustion are already creeping up on you aren’t they? I mean a whole day surrounded by people, the centre of attention, everyone staring at you, having to talk in front of people. It makes you want to crawl up and become a blanket burrito doesn’t it.

Trust me I get it. I describe myself as a not shy introvert. I can bring it if I need to but Im going to be exhausted by too much human interaction. Don’t worry! There are a ton of ways to soothe your introverted soul and make sure that your wedding is organized to maximize your enjoyment. I am here to help with that.

One | Be honest with yourself, your partner, your family and your vendors about what your needs are and what you can realistically handle. You don’t have to have a wedding like everyone else. Letting your vendors know your limits allows them to cater to you in the best way possible. I know what its like to be introverted. We can break your photo times up so you don’t get overwhelmed or I can make sure that we get you away from the crowds for your photos.

Two | Plan buffer time in your timeline and organize breaks for your mental well being. It is really stressful and overwhelming to rush from one part of the day to the next. Talk about anxiety inducing. Talk to your planner and photographer about how to schedule in small breaks to get away from people and take a moment to breathe.

Three | Consider a first look to assuage any nerves. First looks are a great way to take a breather and be with your love before having to interact with all your guests. I know how much you love your guests but time to yourself is not something to apologize for. It may also allow you to be more vulnerable which will result in truly precious photos.

Four | You don’t have to make a long winded speech. It is always nice to thank the people who are a part of your life and your wedding journey but there are a lot of ways to do that. Your friends and family know you and know if speeches make you break out in a cold sweat. Lean on your partner if this is a strong suit for them. Or write out your thoughts on a printed card that can be left at each seat. Your guests can read your sentiments and have it with them as a lovely token of your appreciation. Or pre record your thoughts and play it on a screen on the day of. Your wedding your way.

Five | Plan the wedding you want to have. You don’t have to dance in front of everyone if you don’t want to. You don’t have to sit separately at a sweetheart table, you don’t have to have a receiving line. You can set up your ceremony any way you want or even get the legalities out of the way in advance and have no ceremony and just a reception. Rock it your way.

In the end being introverted is a part of who you are and your wedding is a reflection of who you are. Your wedding should not be something you dread but something that celebrates your love story. Whatever that looks like.

Zehra and Aasif | Osgoode Hall Engagement

I have never shot an engagement session like this one before. Zehra and Aasif assured me that they were awkward in front of the camera. So many people say this and I have yet to experience that. They were pure naturals. So in love and dancing around Osgoode Hall like a couple of kids.

Little did I know that Aasif had a little surprise up his sleeve for Zehra. When Aasif had originally proposed, Zehra was just about to leave for Pakistan. He so badly wanted to be engaged before she left. So he gave her a promise ring with the additional promise that an engagement ring was coming. During their session I was told that Aasif wanted  a photo pretending to propose. Little did I or Zehra know, he would pull out that promised engagement ring and present it to her. These are real photos of her surprise! I LOVE IT!

This shoot was something special and I am so excited for their wedding which is just around the corner. Congratulations Zehra and Aasif.

Heirloom

One of my favourite things to do is rifle through my parent's photo collection. They have boxes of photos all organized by the year. We pull each photo out and hold it in our hands and talk about the memories being held in ink and paper. Back in the day printing your photos was the only option. And because of that everyone has photos that they can pass down and preserve for future generations to see and enjoy.

The current generation is the most photographed of all time! We can whip out our phones and take a million photos but the truth is what happens to those photos? If they are not printed then they are lost. Printing your memories makes them tangible and solidifies their existence. What I want for my couples is to have their wedding memories be a part of their family for generations to come! Your wedding was a once in a lifetime event and the photos depicting that deserve more than to sit on your computer. With the ever evolving state of technology it is vital, now more than ever, to make sure your wedding photos exist in a format that won't turn obsolete.

I want to offer you heirloom products that will last the test of time. One day you and your grandkids can sit around on the sofa and flip through your album and it will spark memories of moments that defined who you turned out to be.

Choose an heirloom custom album to preserve your images. These are gorgeous flushmount albums with thick lay flat pages. The pages are buttery soft and when cared for properly will last and last. You will choose the images you want in your album that tell the story of your wedding day. Order the size you would like and have full control over the cover fabric and colour. You can even choose smaller sizes for your parents.

Another option is to choose a photo keepsake box. They come with 25 4x6 prints of your choosing. These are beautiful, high quality prints with a soft matte finish.

Book a consult with me to come and see these items in person. Nothing compares to being able to hold them and feel the quality for yourself. Let's bring your memories to life.
