Christine and Garrett | Portage Inn Huntsville Wedding

I have been so excited to share this particular wedding. Once you see it you will understand. Everything about Christine and Garrett's wedding at the Portage Inn in Muskoka was a total dream! Christine and Garrett first contacted me by sending me the best and longest inquiry email I've ever gotten that made me beam from ear to ear. It felt right away as if I already knew them.

The first time they met was at a party. They were both on a semester abroad in Western France. She was Canadian, he American. Her first impression of him wasn't great. She totally thought he was the frat boy type. However, it wasn't until after they left to head home that they started to chat online and after a stint in Asia for her she stopped in his hometown of SanFrancisco on the way home and the rest as they say is history.

Christine and Garrett knew that they wanted the focus of their wedding to be on their friends and family, so they chose a small intimate wedding in one of the most beautiful settings they could have possibly chosen. I mean will you take a look at those views!

Speaking of family. Garrett and Christine have the most beautiful little bird named Levi. Having him be a part of their day was so important to them. He hung out with Christine while she got ready and was all too happy to participate in photos. Christine and Garrett, I couldn't have had a more fabulous time at your wedding and I wish you an infinity years of intense happiness.

2017 Year in Review

Every year I wonder how the previous year flew by so quickly! I mean seriously how does that happen? 2017 was a year filled with amazing weddings and just badass people to get to work with. I can't believe how lucky I was to be able to capture each of these unique weddings, engagements and family moments.

There are two many favourite moments for me to possibly cover them all! I got to photograph sweet moments between a bride and her bird, mini golfed till the sun went down, danced like no one was watching, laughed till I cried at some hilarious speeches, embraced the rain, wind and snow. I met so many wonderful new people! We popped champagne and stopped for beers. We snuck out of ceremonies to bathe in sunsets.

I can never explain how grateful I am to each of you for inviting me into your lives and into your celebrations. For trusting me and giving me room to create. I can not wait to see what 2018 will bring and all the new memories I will be reflecting on next year.

Chantal and Corey | Timber Creek Mini Golf Engagement

Now that the weather has seriously cooled down I thought everyone might be in the mood for a summery engagement session. Chantal and Corey love to mini golf. In fact their very first date was mini golfing. Before that date all of his friends told him to make sure to let her win. However, that is not Corey's way. He ended up winning but he charmed Chantal anyways. Here they are years later and engaged to be married.

After that first date the only choice for their engagement session was at a golf course. We headed to Timber Creek in Stouffville where they proceeded to be the most adorable ever! Congratulations to Corey and Chantal. I can not wait to see you commit to a life of friendly competition with each other at your beautiful wedding.

Mat and Misun | Edward Gardens Engagement

Prepare yourself for the epic prettiness! Mat and Misun celebrated their upcoming wedding with a gorgeous and fun engagement session at Edward Gardens in Toronto. First of all Edward Gardens is such a stunning location. Second of all, Mat and Misun are absolute perfection.

When I walked up to them both in the parking lot before the session I noticed that Misun had two bouquets with her that her friend had made for her. Not just the bouquets, but floral headpieces and boutonnieres as well! It was beyond amazing. Now I don't know if you have noticed but it has rained a lot this summer. In fact the week of their session it rained as well. But that particular evening the sun was out in full force and we got a beautiful warm summer sunset that we've been missing so much lately. It all came together to showcase just how sweet and in love they are.

Mat and Misun, I am so incredibly happy for you both and am borderline obsessed with your style. I can't wait for your August wedding.

What if it Rains?

Rain is dreaded on wedding days. But to be honest I have a dreamy crush on rain. There is something magical and romantic about it. After all, kissing in the rain is one of the most iconic romance movie tropes of all time! Plus as they say, rain is exceptionally good luck.

Rain brings storm clouds which add unbelievable dimension to your images. The light can sometimes take your breath away as the sun comes and goes. Rain during the day often leads to 'blow your freaking mind' sunsets. The kind that look like they've been painted there.

There is no need to fear rain on your wedding day. It makes for stunning photos. With just a little preparation, forethought and trust there is no reason for you to not take full advantage of every good thing rain has to offer.

1. The most important thing is to prepare yourself. If it seems that it is going to rain that day deck your bridal party out! Get cute umbrellas that match your wedding colours. Have rain boots ready for yourselves. How fun would it be to dance in puddles with your love? I always have with me two clear umbrellas standing by.

2. Your timeline is always exceptionally important but even more so when it rains. Make sure that there is a lot of buffer time. Rain can slow things down and time for touch ups is always appreciated. No one likes to feel rushed. Get your wedding planner to help you with this and I am always ready to help you make sure there is time for what you want and time to embrace the rain rather than run from it.

3. Backup locations are something to think about. I am willing to run through the rain if you are but sometimes it is not always possible to shoot for long amounts of time in torrential down pours. Have an awesome indoor location in your back pocket just in case. I'd love to brainstorm options with you.

4. Roll with the punches. You can't always plan for every bit of your wedding day. When it comes to rain sometimes you just have to kick off your shoes and run through puddles. You only live once after all. Pick up the dress and kick up some water. Dresses dry (actually pretty quickly) and memories are forever. You will remember your wedding day through amazing and fun images that really truly capture the lightheartedness you both brought to such a love filled (even rainy) day.
