Hannah and Luke | Greens at Renton Wedding

We’ve got another stunning wedding on the blog today! Hannah and Luke were married at The Greens at Renton on the most spectacularly beautiful Fall day. Seriously, a more beautiful day could not have been planned. But they have a knack for picking perfect days. Like their engagement session which was on an amazing Spring day. Check that out HERE.

Hannah is originally from Oregon and Luke is a homegrown Canadian farm boy. They beat the long distance odds before Hannah moved to Ontario to start a new adventure with Luke and kick off a cross continent love story.

You know that a wedding day is going to be so kickass as soon as you meet the wedding party and they are just as awesome as the couple are. Hannah and Luke picked out the most fun and hilarious bridal party that kept the whole day interesting all the way from portraits to end of the night dance crazies. We also had access to some of the most stunning locations like an old church, gorgeous apple orchards and can you believe the moon they go too? Plus it didn’t hurt that Hannah and Luke were just the most freakin’ adorable!

It was the biggest honour to be included in such a romantic and fun wedding day.

Ken and Katrina | Holland Marsh Winery Wedding

I’m busy catching up on blogging some beautiful 2017 weddings and boy is this one worth the wait. You can see their amazing cottage engagement session here.

Ken and Katrina were married at the beautiful Holland Marsh Wineries in Newmarket. Together they planned a lovely wedding that celebrated their relationship with each other and their friends and family. They are both very close with their families and it was evident throughout the whole day. Katrina wanted to make sure to have special moments with her grandmother and her father and they were some of the most emotional moments of the day.

The rain came and went that day and what came of it were bursts of light and some amazing storm clouds. They rode through it all and took full advantage of the beauty of changing weather. The big, beautiful sunflowers that were sprinkled throughout brought all the sunshine to the festivities. One of my most favourite moments was during their first look. Ken wasn’t sure that he would cry at all and Katrina had been teasing him about it leading up to the wedding. But when he first laid his eyes on her he was instantly overwhelmed and she couldn’t help but laugh at his sweet reaction. It was a true testament to their loving and playful relationship. This playfulness extended all the way through to their dances. Katrina with her dad and Ken with his mom bust out some serious dance moves that would make anyone envious.

This wedding was a joy to be a part of and I’m so excited to share it here today. Now as we enter 2019, these two are expecting twins! I know that their fun personalities will make them the most wonderful parents in the world.

Adam and Kelly | Le Select Bistro Toronto Wedding

Kelly and Adam are one super stylish couple and I knew that their wedding would reflect their awesome and laid back personalities. They planned their day to cover tons of things that they loved and didn’t put anything into the day that they didn’t. They chose to get ready together in their own home in Toronto. They chilled with their best friends and Adam even finished writing the rest of his speech.

Afterwards they headed over to their neighbours BOMB Toronto Backyard. That place felt like an oasis in the middle of a city. After sabring a champagne bottle like badasses, they strolled over to their favourite local brewery, Left Field Brewery. I am a huge proponent of doing whatever you want on your wedding day. Leave enough time in your schedule for the things that are important to you. Hanging out and having a brew with friends is a great way to take the day at your own pace.

Together they celebrated with their friends and family at Le Select Bistro. Le Select is the perfect venue for a laid back, down to earth intimate wedding. You are bound to have a super stylish wedding there. They had oysters and delicious favours and one of the most hilarious speeches I’ve ever heard at a wedding. This was definitely ones for the books.

2018 Year in Review

During the process of going through all of my weddings and sessions for this year and compiling them into this slideshow, I was struck by the concept of love. There are so many people on this planet but each of us have our core group of people who make up our circle of love. Out of billions we connect with just a tiny portion of people above all others and that is so beautiful to me. Our people who make us feel safe and loved and supported.

2018 was one for the books. I was able to photograph so many people in love. There were intimate backyard weddings, campground festivities, hot Summer days and cool Fall rain and plenty of tears coming from my face. But most of all there were people who said I do to a life together.

This year was a leap of faith. It was the year I finally took my business full time and committed to putting my full time energy into my business. It was a year of change. We moved into our current home, adopted our beautiful cat Livy and I finally saw Wicked for the first time. (I know right, have I been living under a rock).

2019 will be another year of beautiful couples, families all together for maybe the first time in a long time. Two families becoming one. Of precious puppies walking their humans down the aisle, of dad’s tears as their daughters have grown. Proud mom’s as they dance with their sons. Another year of laughter, crazy groomsmen and happy tears. Bring it on.

An Introverts Guide to a Comfortable Wedding Day

Oh my fellow introverts. I feel you and I recognize you. I know you are so excited about your wedding but those feelings of exhaustion are already creeping up on you aren’t they? I mean a whole day surrounded by people, the centre of attention, everyone staring at you, having to talk in front of people. It makes you want to crawl up and become a blanket burrito doesn’t it.

Trust me I get it. I describe myself as a not shy introvert. I can bring it if I need to but Im going to be exhausted by too much human interaction. Don’t worry! There are a ton of ways to soothe your introverted soul and make sure that your wedding is organized to maximize your enjoyment. I am here to help with that.

One | Be honest with yourself, your partner, your family and your vendors about what your needs are and what you can realistically handle. You don’t have to have a wedding like everyone else. Letting your vendors know your limits allows them to cater to you in the best way possible. I know what its like to be introverted. We can break your photo times up so you don’t get overwhelmed or I can make sure that we get you away from the crowds for your photos.

Two | Plan buffer time in your timeline and organize breaks for your mental well being. It is really stressful and overwhelming to rush from one part of the day to the next. Talk about anxiety inducing. Talk to your planner and photographer about how to schedule in small breaks to get away from people and take a moment to breathe.

Three | Consider a first look to assuage any nerves. First looks are a great way to take a breather and be with your love before having to interact with all your guests. I know how much you love your guests but time to yourself is not something to apologize for. It may also allow you to be more vulnerable which will result in truly precious photos.

Four | You don’t have to make a long winded speech. It is always nice to thank the people who are a part of your life and your wedding journey but there are a lot of ways to do that. Your friends and family know you and know if speeches make you break out in a cold sweat. Lean on your partner if this is a strong suit for them. Or write out your thoughts on a printed card that can be left at each seat. Your guests can read your sentiments and have it with them as a lovely token of your appreciation. Or pre record your thoughts and play it on a screen on the day of. Your wedding your way.

Five | Plan the wedding you want to have. You don’t have to dance in front of everyone if you don’t want to. You don’t have to sit separately at a sweetheart table, you don’t have to have a receiving line. You can set up your ceremony any way you want or even get the legalities out of the way in advance and have no ceremony and just a reception. Rock it your way.

In the end being introverted is a part of who you are and your wedding is a reflection of who you are. Your wedding should not be something you dread but something that celebrates your love story. Whatever that looks like.
